Exodus 2:23

The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

When I read these verses I envision the children of Israel and the weight of years of slavery taking their toll. They cry out, and their cry is heard.

A new covenant was birthed in the Cross. It’s one that includes us as Gentiles. God hears our cry as well and remembers this covenant sealed by the blood of His Son.

I pray your prodigal grows weary of the slavery the enemy has them caught up in and will soon cry out as well…..there is a covenant of love in place with the Father and He will honor that.

John 3:16-17 (NLT)

For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.

On this Good Friday I hope your thoughts will be toward the cross….a place of forgiveness and hope. What a sacrifice was given that day for you and your prodigal! Because of God’s great love for us, if we believe, we are no longer condemned.

I pray the prodigal’s heart is awakened to the gift given them at the cross.

Isaiah 25:1, 9

O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. … In that day I will say, “Surely this is my God; I trusted in Him, and He saved me. This is the Lord, I trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

It’s such an encouraging thought to know God has a specific purpose for our prodigal’s lives…. a purpose planned for them before they were born! Though He has a plan that is purposeful for His Kingdom, He still allows our prodigal to have free will. Lets pray our prodigal will recognize His faithfulness in their lives, choose to walk in the purpose He has for them and trust the process.
