I am a wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 10, cancer survivor, and lover of the Lord! I have seen God’s faithfulness in the lives of my children over many years.

A loving God who gives us free choice won’t force a child of His to serve Him but will allow them to make decisions about their own future. The prodigal is in the process of discovering what they truly believe about life and the Father. Be at peace concerning your prodigal… He has not forsaken them.

These 365 days of verses come from my own life experience praying over a prodigal child. It’s my prayer that you will be encouraged by them daily.

Your specific prodigal may be a child, but could be a spouse, parent, sibling, maybe a friend, but someone you love. As you insert the name of your prodigal into these verses, I pray hope will rise up in you for their return.

God bless…. Suzanne

All scripture is taken from the Holy Bible

(NIV version unless otherwise noted).

  1. I am so grateful for these scripture prayers you share. I have been praying them for two years now and I have shared these with other moms. Is there a way to still sign up for the emails? I have another mom friend I’d like to pass this along to.

    • Thank you for those kind words Gretchen, I’m thrilled that you have been encouraged as you speak these over your prodigal.

Yes, you should be able to copy and paste the link to my blog then they should be able to click a “Follow” button and be added to my list!

  2. I found your site a couple of months ago and have been writing the daily prayers in my planner…every day inserting my prodigals’ names in there. Thank you so much for your faithful posts and the encouragement that comes when praying the Scriptures.

  4. Hi, I would like to thank you for these encouraging emails every day!! I always open these before I even get out of bed. I pray these verses over my 4 prodoligal children, 2 sons-in- law and my grandchildren.

    • Thank you so much for this! I often wonder if I should continue on but responses like this encourage me there are still those who’s hearts are broken over a prodigal situation and God’s Word can bring true life to them and their vision of a future prodigal! God bless you!

    • Hello Stacy! It’s hard to believe I’ve been posting for 5 years.. thanks for bringing that to my attention 🙂 I keep wondering if I should keep it going but God hasn’t released me from it yet. As long as other parents/relatives of prodigals can gain some encouragement, I have fulfilled the mission of what God asked me to do drawing from my experience. Thanks so much for commenting! I’ll be praying for those on your list as well.

  6. Suzanne, Kela sent me your prayers for a prodigal and it is a Godsend to me. Bob respects Rod so much but I have not had much opportunity to visit with the two of you and did not know you had a prodigal. Thank you for providing 365 days of prayers for those of us who have a prodigal. I know it will help me trust God with our prodigal.

    • Welcome Bonnie! Yes, we have walked the “prodigal” road and God was so faithful. These verses are what kept me going and believing he would come back to the Father who loves him! I pray they’ll be an encouragement to you each morning!

  7. Sweet Suzanne,
I could not be more thankful for this today. Thank you for sharing your wisdom through God’s word. He knows!

  8. What a blessing to know that other moms suffer this sadness. Not that I want them to have this same sadness as I do but I feel there is strengh in numbers.
I feel such peace as I read your email. Thank you so much!

    • Thank you Betty, I am praying many moms will be encouraged as they lift up a prodigal to the Father. Glad you feel that peace only knowing the Lord is in control can give!
