About

I am a wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 11 (soon to be 12 :), cancer survivor, and lover of the Lord! I have seen God’s faithfulness in the lives of my children over many years.

A loving God who gives us free choice won’t force a child of His to serve Him but will allow them to make decisions about their own future. The prodigal is in the process of discovering what they truly believe about life and the Father. Be at peace concerning your prodigal… He has not forsaken them.

These 365 days of verses come from my own life experience praying over a prodigal child. It’s my prayer that you will be encouraged by them daily.

Your specific prodigal may be a child, but could be a spouse, parent, sibling, maybe a friend, but someone you love. As you insert the name of your prodigal into these verses, I pray hope will rise up in you for their return.

God bless…. Suzanne

All scripture is taken from the Holy Bible

(NIV version unless otherwise noted).

  1. My prodigal son is 35 and I am 65. I have been praying for his return to the Lord since he was 18 and at University. I have been trusting my Heavenly Father for my son’s return to the faith in Jesus that he received as a young child but through the years he has only gotten further away. He announced to us when he went away to college that he was homosexual and he has distanced himself from me more with each passing day. Today he told me that he will never regret eradicating me from his life when I asked him to visit on Christmas Day. My heart is so very broken and I am weary. I need someone to come along side me and intercede for my precious son.😔🙏

    • Oh Donna, I am so sorry that your son is in such a place of pain and anger towards you. My advice is to keep loving him keep communication open (which I feel you have) and let the Father rescue and restore. I hope you find encouragement from the scripture in this blog and you’ll be able to see your son fully restored back to the Lord some day soon. This has been such a long road for you. Bless you for not giving up! I am praying for him to be captured by the love of the Father; that He would send shepherds after His own heart to cross paths with your son and bring clarity to his life. May there even be a miracle move or maybe some encouraging communication by Christmas. Blessings and a very Merry Christmas!

    • Dear Donna, our son is in a similar place. We will join you in prayer. Rejoice in tiny baby steps as the Lord reveals them to you. Suzanne is so right when she says to keep any kind communication that’s possible open. May the Lord honor your supplications and longing for the return of your prodigal.

      • Dear Gareau7….I bring your son up in prayer before our merciful God along with mine. May His Holy Spirit fall upon them both to soften their hearts and being them back wholly to living for God/Jesus. We together can bind the evil and expectantly wait for God’s attention to the continually prayers sent for them. Warm regards from the bond of parental love we share. 🙏💓❤️‍🔥

  2. I am so grateful for these scripture prayers you share. I have been praying them for two years now and I have shared these with other moms. Is there a way to still sign up for the emails? I have another mom friend I’d like to pass this along to.

      • As mother’s our heart is broken to see our children stray from God. I often feel alone and that every one else’s children are perfect. I cry out to God for years and years. I do know that He hears and He will answer on HIS time and not mine. I comfort myself by telling myself that child is only making his testimony right now and will return fully to God. Then his (now) testimony will be for God’s glory.

In searching web for verses to pray over him, I found you. Please whatever you do, do not stop encouraging us. I am starting a prayer group at church for mothers of adult prodigal children. Can I use your scriptures and thoughts to share with them? Blessings to you. Theresa

      • I would love for you to use these scriptures to encourage others!. I love that you are starting a prodigal prayer group. My husband and I have done the same. You may be surprised at how many parents are experiencing prodigal children. God bless you and your efforts to bring hope to those praying for prodigals to come home!

    • Hello Stacy! It’s hard to believe I’ve been posting for 5 years.. thanks for bringing that to my attention 🙂 I keep wondering if I should keep it going but God hasn’t released me from it yet. As long as other parents/relatives of prodigals can gain some encouragement, I have fulfilled the mission of what God asked me to do drawing from my experience. Thanks so much for commenting! I’ll be praying for those on your list as well.

  7. Suzanne, Kela sent me your prayers for a prodigal and it is a Godsend to me. Bob respects Rod so much but I have not had much opportunity to visit with the two of you and did not know you had a prodigal. Thank you for providing 365 days of prayers for those of us who have a prodigal. I know it will help me trust God with our prodigal.
