1 John 3:19-20

This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.

In the story of the prodigal son, he comes to his senses in the pig pen and desires to go back home. His heart condemns him telling him he is not worthy to be a son and should just ask to be his father’s hired hand. Of course that was a lie from the enemy!

My prayer for the prodigal is that they will learn to distinguish between a lie and the truth; that they will know without a doubt that God and their family truly love them and will receive them back with open arms. May their heart find rest in His presence at a time when it might try and condemn them.

  1. I’ve been following daily since I’ve found your blog. It’s given me encouragement and I want you to know how thankful I am to find a verse and prayer here each day to meditate on for my son. My continual prayer is that he will come back to the truth and stop believing the lies of the enemy. Thank you for virtually holding my hand and connecting with my heart!

    • So glad you are encouraged. Yes, the lies of the enemy are powerful in our prodigals lives… praying your son will learn how to take them captive and hear the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking clearly!
