Psalm 32:5 NLT

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

These verses are a reminder of the progression to freedom….

  • recognize our sin, that it is rebellion against God
  • confess our sin
  • trust in His willingness to forgive
  • accept His forgiveness

We even have freedom from the guilt of our sin!

There is power in agreeing with God about our sin. He knows, so we might as well confess! Knowing His forgiving nature and trusting in His forgiveness is what frees us from guilt.

May your expectations of what God will do in your prodigal’s life rise as you trust that they will begin to walk these progressive steps to freedom!

Psalm 32:5 NLT

Finally, ______ confessed all his/her sins to you and stopped trying to hide his/her guilt. ______ said to himself/herself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave him/her! All ______’s guilt is gone.

Ephesians 2:4-7 (NLT)

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!). For, He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

I thought it appropriate on this Easter Sunday to give a reminder of just what God has done for us and our prodigal! I can’t comprehend the vastness of God’s great love, how He continues to offer grace to all who will accept it.

Have you ever thought of God pointing to us as an example? Who is He pointing us out to – the enemy… angels… the lost? I look forward to the day the Father can point to my prodigal as an example of how the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness transforms a life!

Ephesians 2:4-7 (NLT)

Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

This verse has a natural progression. Does your prodigal seems to be walking, standing and sitting exactly opposite of where you want them to be? It’s one thing to stray down a path that is not pleasing to the Lord, but to end up sitting and spending time there is another thing.

I envision a prodigal who delights in God’s Word and meditates on it. I love the picture of a mighty tree planted by streams of spiritual water, soaking up its goodness and yielding fruit. Keep that picture in mind as you visualize your prodigal’s prosperous future….
