Isaiah 59:21 NLT

“And this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children’s children forever, I the Lord, have spoken!”

This is a promise worth clinging to! Because our Redeemer came and bought us back, God has been faithful to place His spirit within us and our prodigal. We can have confidence His words will be on their lips as well as the lips of their offspring.

Pray that God’s words, the ones they grew up hearing and knowing, will come bubbling to the surface at random times… they are there and will move to their lips in time.

John 3:16-17 (NLT)

For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.

On this Good Friday I hope your thoughts will be toward the cross….a place of forgiveness and hope. What a sacrifice was given that day for you and your prodigal! Because of God’s great love for us, if we believe, we are no longer condemned.

I pray the prodigal’s heart is awakened to the gift given them at the cross.

Exodus 2:23

The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

When I read these verses I envision the children of Israel and the weight of years of slavery taking their toll. They cry out, and their cry is heard.

A new covenant was birthed in the Cross. It’s one that includes us as Gentiles. God hears our cry as well and remembers this covenant sealed by the blood of His Son.

I pray your prodigal grows weary of the slavery the enemy has them caught up in and will soon cry out as well…..there is a covenant of love in place with the Father and He will honor that.

Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

During difficult times, these verses are a reminder that what we see as pretty insignificant in nature, God notices. Even the falling of a little sparrow does not escape His attention. How much more will he take notice of our fears and concerns regarding our prodigal. A beautiful thought… He has numbered the very hairs on their head!

We need not fear trials for us or our prodigal.. nothing can shake His love for us. Lets pray our prodigals will sense the Father’s care for them today.
