Psalm 31:4-5

Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge, into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth.

We are well aware of the many traps the enemy has placed in our life and the lives of our loved ones. Sometimes we are alert enough to see them before walking into them; sometimes we’re made aware after we’ve already taken the bait. He will continue to be relentless in his efforts, so we must be relentless in being alert to his schemes. Placing our lives in the Father’s hands along with staying in the Word will go a long way in keeping us alert to those traps by promptings from the Holy Spirit.

Pray for your prodigal to have a keen eye to the traps of the enemy. May they trust their lives into His hands and find a refuge in Him. Lets pray also that the truth of God’s Word and the prompting of the Holy Spirit are leading them along in victory.

Ezekiel 37:13-14

Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.

Though these verses are about the restoration of Israel, I like to envision them as a picture of the restoration of a prodigal. It seems the prodigal can be trapped in a tomb of unmet expectations, defeat, and despair. They may need to be set free from the grave, have new life breathed into them and settled in a place of freedom from past mistakes.

I’m praying today that the prodigal will have a testimony as to what God has done; how He placed His spirit within them bringing them forth from the grave to live again!
