Psalm 103:13-14 NLT

The Lord is like a father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him. For He knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust.

The Lord is like no earthly Father; his love is unconditional. The one who created us knows us best and His compassion flows from knowing how weak we are. He understands our weakness, but also, is the only one who truly knows our greatest potential.

I am reminded of the prodigal son, who returned home totally defeated, yet was received by a father with outstretched arms.

My prayer for the prodigal today is that they come to know God as a true Father; realizing in Him possibly what their deepest desires are centered around — unconditional love. Let’s pray the Holy Spirit will take any tendency toward weakness and powerfully turn it into strength in the prodigal’s life.

Psalm 86:11-13

Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.

We all feel the pull of the world constantly and know the power it has to divide our loyalties. As we are taught by the Lord and choose to walk in His truth, the power of that attraction is diminished. Because of His great love for us, and protection over us, we have reason to glorify His name forever!

We want to see our prodigals walking with an undivided heart; that a love of the world would not constantly be contending with their love for the Father. May His love win out and embed a song of praise in their hearts forever.

Psalm 86:11-13
