Isaiah 66:2

“Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.”

Nothing gives me confidence about my place in life and an assurance of God’s love more than the thought that He brought all things, including me, into being! He placed me in my family and created me exactly like I am for His purposes.

My prayer for the prodigal is that they will be humbled by the same thought. May this realization cause them to be more contrite and quick to repent.

Ephesians 2:4-7 (NLT)

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!). For, He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

I thought it appropriate on this Easter Sunday to give a reminder of just what God has done for us and our prodigal! I can’t comprehend the vastness of God’s great love, how He continues to offer grace to all who will accept it.

Have you ever thought of God pointing to us as an example? To whom is He pointing us out? – the enemy? – angels? I look forward to the day the Father can point to my prodigal as an example of how the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness transforms a life!

1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT

So, humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

humble – having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s own importance

Ah, humility… it is so hard to keep from thinking life is all about us, isn’t it? We shouldn’t long to be important in the world’s eyes; God’s opinion of us is the only one that matters. If we will allow Him to teach us humility, He will allow us to shine when the time is right. He’s all about making Himself look good and wants to do it through us. So, if we will stay humble and desire to make Him famous He will use us to do just that.

I pray my prodigal will learn easily what humility is all about, that it will come naturally to them. I also pray, they won’t be anxious about what the world thinks of them but rely on God, trusting His hand on their life.
