Psalm 34:15

The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love.

Though God loves the entire world equally, I imagine there’s something attractive about a child who is in awe of a sovereign God and has hung their hope on Him. How could one who trusts completely in His unfailing love not be favored a little?

I pray the prodigal will be one who catches the Lord’s eye.

Psalm 34:15

The eyes of the Lord are on _________ who fears Him, on _________ whose hope is in His unfailing love.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

As children of a heavenly kingdom, we are blessed differently than the world would bestow blessing. We are satisfied because of our desire to serve and know God, not by serving man and living out the desires of the flesh.

The desire of my heart today is that my prodigal would truly hunger for righteousness and be blessed. I pray they would thirst for more of God; to have an intimate relationship with Him like never before.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed is _________ who hungers and thirsts for righteousness, for he/she will be filled.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Sometimes we can pray, step back and watch God work. Most of the time, though, we are asked to enter the battle and He promises to be alongside, upholding and strengthening us. We have been asked to go to war for prodigals we love. It’s a battle for their hearts and minds and it can seem to go on for a long time. Nothing gives a child of God more confidence, though, then knowing the creator of the universe is on their side as they step out, in His strength, and go into battle. I hope this blog has been of use as you have gone to battle for the heart and mind of your prodigal.

I pray the prodigal has been seeing opportunities to put God’s Word to the test in their own lives and discovering, what He says He will do, He will do. May they feel His strength and be fearless.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear ________, for I am with you; do not be dismayed ________, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you _________, with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 91:3-4

Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

God doesn’t promise life free from danger or sickness. We live in a fallen world with an enemy who is continuously wanting to destroy us. Despite the trouble that will come, we have a faithful God who loves us; under the cover of His mighty wings we find shelter.

The prodigal must learn to live and rest in that shelter. Let’s pray the prodigal will learn the value of taking refuge in the Lord during difficult times; that they learn how to rest in Him, allowing His faithfulness to be their shield.

Psalm 91:3-4

Surely He will save ________ from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover ________ with His feathers, and under His wings ________ will find refuge; His faithfulness will be ________’s shield and rampart.

Hosea 6:1

Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but He will heal us; He has injured us but He will bind up our wounds.

The children of God had corrupted the worship of Him with idol worship. They didn’t understand the depth of their sin. They thought God would give them a “slap on the hand” as it were and all would be okay. Little did they know they were about to be taken into exile. They may have “returned” but it was just to alleviate the pain of God’s distance from them. They had no thought of real repentance and serious change. I don’t want my coming before the Father to just be a way to feel better about my sin. I desire a true relationship with Him….intimacy. What we have because of Christ is so much more than what the Old Testament children of God experienced from a distance, Hallelujah!

I choose to trust the prodigal into God’s hands, for His purposes. I realize it may take a “breaking down” to have a “building up” in the prodigal’s life. But, we can be sure that what He has torn, in His mercy and for His namesake, He will heal. I pray the prodigal will be genuine in their repentance and desire true worship of the Father.

Hosea 6:1

Come, let ________ return to the Lord. He has torn ________ to pieces but He will heal him/her; He has injured him/her but He will bind up _______’s wounds.

2 Peter 3:13-15

But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation.

Thank goodness for the patience of God! Man has no idea how many times He might have wanted to bring on the end, to take care of sin once and for all, yet, He is patient and wanting to see as many come to salvation as possible before that great day. Personally, I am looking forward to Christ’s coming, but I must bear in mind, the Lord’s patience means salvation for many!

Let’s pray the prodigal will make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him in these last days, knowing some day they will be part of a new home of righteousness.

2 Peter 3:13-15

But in keeping with His promise ________ is looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, ________, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation.

Psalm 25:4-5 NLT

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You.

Show, point out, lead…. great things to ask as a believer who is seeking to know the truth and walk in it. As people who desire to be spared the pain of bad decisions, why not ask the Father in advance how to traverse this life’s roads. If we remain teachable, I expect He is more than generous with direction; we can place our hope in it.

I pray the prodigal would desire God’s leadership; that they would have a teachable heart and put their hope in Him.

Psalm 25:4-5 NLT

Show _________ the right path, O Lord; point out the road for him/her to follow. Lead _________ by your truth and teach him/her, for You are the God who saves him/her. All day long _________ puts his/her hope in You.
