The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
Because we serve a mighty God, there is power available to the prodigal. Along with this power is a soft side, one of delight and quietness. There is no contradiction; God embodies both! That’s what I love about Him… He is mighty, yet will quiet us with love.
The prodigal needs to know and understand what delight the Father takes in them. I want them to hear Him singing over them.
The Lord _______’s God is with him/her, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in ______, He will quiet ______ with His love, He will rejoice over ______ with singing.
My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare.
Our enemy is so sneaky. He knows he doesn’t have to get us totally engulfed in sin; just a foothold will do. If he can just snare our foot, it keeps us from moving forward spiritually and he might just be able to bring us down.
Today I am praying the prodigal will have a keen eye for snares. The road ahead is a long one and they will battle more than once with the enemy; knowing how he works is important. May they keep their eyes ever on the Lord!
Aren’t we thankful for a God who is always ready to rescue and release the prodigal from a snare?
______’s eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release his/her feet from the snare.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better.
A Spirit of wisdom will carry a prodigal far in their journey back to the Father; godly wisdom about their situation, their sin, finding freedom, meeting the challenges of life and especially knowing that they are indeed loved.
With wisdom will also come revelation. God wants to reveal to the prodigal things that will bring the two of them closer. To know about God is one thing, but to KNOW Him is what will change a life.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give ______ the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that he/she may know Him better.
1 John 3:19-20
This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.
In the story of the prodigal son, he comes to his senses in the pig pen and desires to go back home. His heart condemns him telling him he is not worthy to be a son and should just ask to be his father’s hired hand. Of course, that is a lie of the enemy!
My prayer for the prodigal is that they will learn to distinguish between a lie and the truth; that they will know without a doubt that God and their family truly love them and will receive them back with open arms. May their heart find rest in His presence at a time when it might try and condemn them.

This then is how _______ knows that he/she belongs to the truth, and how _______ sets his/her heart at rest in His presence whenever his heart condemns him/her . For God is greater than his/her heart, and He knows everything.
My people have committed two sins: they have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
This verse is a great picture of having two choices… a clear, flowing spring vs. an empty water source. Where do we look for refreshing when we are thirsty? I think it’s amusing that God points out, not only do we try to drink from a source that won’t hold water, we have labored to DIG the thing!
The pull of the world is strong and our nature is to be sucked in. By our own choices we labor hard to quench a thirst that can’t be quenched by this world. (It’s broken and will never hold anything for us)
When my prodigal or I forsake God, no matter the temptation, it always leads to more labor than needed and nothing to show for it in the end.
I am praying that the prodigal will stop laboring to be filled by the world and be drawn to the One who gives a never-ending spring of living water.
______ has committed two sins: he/she has forsaken me, the spring of living water, and has dug his/her own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
satisfy – meet the expectations, needs or desires of someone
If we could start the day desires fulfilled and needs met, how great it would be! I have to ask myself, “Could I be totally satisfied with just God’s unfailing love?” Yes, His love will even fulfill my greatest expectations!
Our prodigal may not be able to recognize the unfailing love of the Father yet but I pray they will. May they know what it feels like to be satisfied – needs and expectations met -by God himself. Let’s be praying that one morning soon, a song will be in their hearts when they open their eyes; a song that will carry them all of their days.
Satisfy ________ in the morning with your unfailing love, that he/she may sing for joy and be glad all his/her days.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him, must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
My prodigal struggles with believing God really is (or even wants to be) involved with our day-to-day lives. It’s not enough to just believe God exists. That’s a start, but God desires more than mere acknowledgment of His existence. He wants a personal, dynamic relationship with us, one that will transform our life. God will reward those who seek Him in earnest with an abundant, fulfilling life and eternity with Him.
I am praying that the prodigal who has had the faith to believe God exists will begin to see that God wants to have an intimate relationship with them. God will reward them for their effort.
And without faith, ________ it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him, must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
