Jeremiah 20:13

Sing to the Lord! Give praise to the Lord! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.

“Rescue” here means deliverance… the power of one entity over another; to snatch away, pluck, save, and without fail.

God alone has power to restrain our enemy. It is through our believing in that power that the enemy’s hold on us is broken. I’m not sure how much fighting we actually have to do; sometimes we are just too weak to fight.  Because we have such a mighty God, merely standing beside him as He goes to battle for us is enough. I believe deliverance can come in a loved one’s life even by our faithful intercessory prayers.

Let’s intercede for the prodigal today in this way: if they don’t understand how to fight or are too weak to do it, they will begin to trust in the one who will go to battle for them. I pray for the hand of the wicked to be broken in the prodigal’s life.
