James 4:3

You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

For all we know, the prodigal has petitioned the Father over and over for things in their life to change. And, it’s possible they have become frustrated at not seeing the answer. The key to receiving is not necessarily asking for the right things, but for the right reason; it’s a heart issue.

I pray the prodigal would come to understand the key to having prayers answered; that their motives would be good and God focused.
