Psalm 109:30-31
With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng I will praise Him. For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.
I picture the enemy always spewing condemnation at the prodigal. They may feel they have squandered their life and not lived up to expectations, but the Father is there standing by their side, always present and ever faithful in their defense.
In the story of the prodigal son, he returned in condemnation seeking only to be his father’s servant, yet, he was received with open arms, forgiveness, a robe and a ring. For one headed down a destructive path, there was salvation at his father’s side.
I pray the prodigal will have their spiritual eyes opened to the reality of a Father who defends them and desires to free them from the one who would constantly condemn. One day they will extol Him with their mouth which will flow from a heart of gratitude.
