1 Corinthians 1:27-28 NLT
Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
The way to salvation is not in wisdom or skill or power. It’s simply by having faith in Christ and the gift of the cross. God’s grace is simple and yet unimaginable. Our boasting would get us no where when held up in comparison to the cross. When we stand in His presence, the only thing we will truly have in our defense is Christ’s death.
I pray the prodigal will see how futile it is to throw their accomplishments up before the Father. I pray they will come to realize they have no place to boast, that their lack of wisdom or power is exactly what the Father loves about them; He can use that.
