Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Most of those in the church in Rome had come from Jewish heritage, so they understood the concept of sacrifice. Because of Christ, there is no longer a need for animal sacrifice; He took care of that on the cross once and for all! But, Paul urges us to be a living example of this most precious sacrifice; not to conform to the world.

We are selfish by nature, so we must become a transformed person, with a renewed mind in order to have a heart that desires to live for Him. An obedient life is a continual act of worship! Where He leads those who sacrifice for Him will always be good, pleasing and perfect.

It is my prayer for the prodigal that they learn the discipline of being transformed by renewing their minds. I pray when they test God and His will for them, they discover this truth — He never comes up lacking.
