Revelation 1:5b-6
To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father – to Him be glory and power for ever and ever!
On this American Independence Day, my thoughts go to our forefathers and how important freedom was to them. They established our Republic based on the idea of freedom for all.
We, as believers, are able to live free from the bonds of slavery to sin, with all rights to the Kingdom of God. We will still be tempted and give in to sin; we just don’t have to be a slave to it; thanks to the blood of Jesus! Not only are we free from being a slave, but He has elevated us to a new position.
Our prodigals (being believers) are already a kingdom and priests made to serve God. My prayer is that they will begin to live according to this high calling.
