Daniel 9:4-5, 17a, 18b

O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. we have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws…. Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant….. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

All of us, at one time, have been rebellious in our sin, but Christ paid the price for us to be partakers in God’s “covenant of love.” He is always ready to hear a rebels confession of sin and restore them.

A precious thought to cling to – we can petition the Lord not because of anything we have or have not done, but solely because of His great mercy. It takes it totally out of our hands and puts it fully into His.

Our prodigal has the same access to the Father and with the same requirements….NONE!
