2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

I don’t care how dark things get in our prodigal’s life, I believe there is never total darkness. Even if just a small flicker of light, it’s there. The knowledge of God’s love we have spoken into their lives will shine in the darkest of nights for them. I pray they literally see the face of Christ and it will be what draws them back.
