Hosea 6:1
Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but He will heal us; He has injured us but He will bind up our wounds.
The children of God had corrupted the worship of Him with idol worship. They didn’t understand the depth of their sin. They thought God would give them a “slap on the hand” as it were and all would be okay. Little did they know they were about to be taken into exile. They may have “returned” but it was just to alleviate the pain of God’s distance from them. They had no thought of real repentance and serious change. I don’t want my coming before the Father to just be a way to feel better about my sin. I desire a true relationship with Him….intimacy. What we have because of Christ is so much more than what the Old Testament children of God experienced from a distance, Hallelujah!
I choose to trust the prodigal into God’s hands, for His purposes. I realize it may take a “breaking down” to have a “building up” in the prodigal’s life. But, we can be sure that what He has torn, in His mercy and for His namesake, He will heal. I pray the prodigal will be genuine in their repentance and desire true worship of the Father.
