2 Timothy 1:14

Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

In this first chapter of 2 Timothy, Paul encourages young Timothy to be faithful to his calling. Paul has invested a lot into this young man’s life and wants him to guard all the Lord has taught him. Instead of remaining a student, he was now to become a leader. When he had times of conflict and questioned his faith he could always draw on his inner resources with the help of the Holy Spirit.

I doubt we will go through the kind of transition Timothy had to or will ever have the fear of persecution like he faced, but each of us needs to be aware of what has been entrusted to us and guard it also . We have everything we need to carry us through difficult times with the Holy Spirit’s help.

A good deposit has been made in our prodigals. Let’s pray that they will guard what’s been entrusted to them with help from the Holy Spirit.
