2 Corinthians 12:10

That is why, for Christ’s sake I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

The meaning of “delight” in this passage is ‘content with’.  I don’t think we would ever say, “I’m being insulted and persecuted… this is awesome!” but, can we be content with those things being in our lives? Hardships cause us to lean heavily on the Lord, to draw on Christ’s strength. Filled with His strength we will be stronger than we could ever be on our own. So, we can handle weakness and difficulties when they are for Christ’s sake because His supernatural strength is ours.

My prayer today for the prodigal is that they can learn to be content as difficult circumstances swirl around them, ones where their weaknesses are exposed. I pray they will lean on the strength only Christ can give and be doubly strong.
