Matthew 6:33-34

But seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

In the prior verses of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is speaking about being anxious for what we will eat or wear. He encourages us by reminding us the Father takes care of the birds… and we are much more valuable than they.

If we want all God has for us, we need to seek His kingdom and His righteousness. If we truly seek Him first I think we might be surprised at what “all” really includes for us! God will provide so much more than our daily needs…. and I think He loves to do just that!

I’ve heard that the definition of worry is — negative meditation. A worrier can find it hard to trust God. What do I dwell on? Is my meditation most generally negative or positive? If I trust Him to take care of me, tomorrow is not a concern.

My prayer for the prodigal is that as they seek the Father, they will be so overwhelmed by what they see Him doing, and their needs being met, they have no worry about what tomorrow may hold.
