Isaiah 50:4-5
The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.
To have an “instructed tongue,” one that knows how to encourage weary people, would be a wonderful gift. It’s available to any of us who desire to be taught by the Lord how to do so.
I pray the prodigal will someday be in a position to be taught by the Lord, morning-by-morning, awakened by Him. What a sweet thought — rebellious days behind them, pressing in to be close to the Father, teacher of all things.
