Luke 11:34, 36 NLT
Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.
Jesus indicates here that our “spiritual” eyes are vitally important to our life. The world is constantly bombarding our physical eyes, which can have a “drawing the blinds” effect on our spiritual eyes. It takes discipline to focus our eyes on what is good and godly as we go about our day in a fallen world.
I have this picture of the prodigal’s life being flooded with light! May they be so full of the light of Christ’s presence, that everything, even in the darkest corner, becomes visible because all darkness is driven out.
