Psalm 16:5-6
Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
David writes this Psalm as he is in great danger and in crisis. Yet, in the midst of fearing for his life, he recognizes that God has his life in His hands. He trusts the Lord with the outcome and is confident that it will be truly pleasant and delightful.
Because of the blood of Jesus, my lot is also secure. I know the end of the story. What a delightful inheritance indeed!
As I visualize the prodigal and the boundary lines God has established for them, I see that they fall in a pleasant place. God has given them great “freedom” in this Christian life, yet set boundaries for their protection and provision.
I pray our prodigals will desire to walk within God’s boundaries and even delight in the boundaries He has set for them; realizing they have a delightful inheritance in Him.
Psalm 16:5-6
