Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
It may cause you to wince a little when you pray for “discipline” in your prodigal’s life. Yet, I know from personal experience a little discipline from the Lord has been a good thing in my life. Just as a loving father disciplines his child, the heavenly Father will lovingly do the same, and with your prodigal’s best interest at heart. The harvest of righteousness to follow is totally worth the discipline!
My prayer for the prodigal is that they would welcome discipline, because they recognize it’s benefits in training and harvest.
