1 John 5:3-5

This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Some days I feel more like an overcomer than others. Yet, this is the promise for those who believe in Jesus Christ; we ARE overcomer’s. We should live from a place of victory not strive to accomplish victory (as Graham Cooke would say). I think the key is a change in mindset as well as a change of heart. Obedience to God’s Word is not designed to be burdensome; we should desire a life of obedience and recognize that we were given the tools to accomplish it when we came to faith in Christ.

I pray the prodigal will see themselves as an overcomer of the obstacles the enemy puts in their path; may God begin to change their perception of themselves. I pray they live from a place of victory and not think overcoming is unattainable.
