Joshua 3:4a, 5b
Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before…. Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you….
I love the story of Joshua. He and Caleb were the only spies who believed, with God’s help, they could conquer the inhabitants of their promised land. Now after 40 years, Joshua is back doing what he felt sure they could do all those years earlier.
God promised never to leave him and commanded him to be strong and courageous. When the ark moved, they were to move with it and take the land; it was the presence of God going before them.
Consecrate — to dedicate to a divine purpose.
As Israel stepped out, believing in God’s purpose and dedicating themselves to the task, what awesome things they would see Him do.
I pray that the prodigal would see divine purpose in their present situation, though it may be new territory for them. I pray they would keep their eyes on Him as they confidently and courageously move forward.
