1 John 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

In the Greek, knows means “has come to know, and still knows”; rely means “believes; persuaded by”.

God’s love for us has always been the same; it never changes. We, on the other hand, work through a process of discovery of this love. We experience it in many ways and then become persuaded by it. Because His love has been faithful and true over time, it captures us.

As believers, we are the ones by which the world is shown God’s love. It is evidence of His living in us… a powerful responsibility as His children.

I pray the prodigal will come to know, be persuaded, that God loves them. As they live in His love, may it be something they rely on, without a shadow of doubt, and be evident to those within their sphere of influence.
