James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Even when on a better path, the prodigal will face trials of varying difficulty and length, that’s just part of life as a child of God. At times, God seems to ask, “do you trust me with this?” Perseverance will teach them how trials can be an opportunity for joy. We really don’t know the depth of our character until we come under pressure. Testing also has a way of maturing us.
I pray that the prodigal is learning to have joy as their faith is tested. May they gain the maturity that comes from persevering through these tough times, lacking nothing.

A really good word for today! So glad to be reminded.
