I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber; Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand: the sun will not harm you by day, or the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
My mom passed away yesterday and this, as one of my favorite sets of scripture, is so appropriate today. This passage encourages my heart and I know the Lord is indeed watching over me, especially in the most difficult times of life. He was also there with my mom, watching as she slept in her bed breathing her last.
I can be assured He is watching over the prodigal’s life as well, never sleeping, always knowing their coming and going.
I pray the prodigal will lift up their eyes to the one who never slumbers and continually watches over them; knowing their help will come from the Maker of heaven and earth.
