Psalm 118:5-7 NLT

In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; He will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me.

As the prodigal found himself having squandered his money, working at a job that was disgusting and longing to be back in his father’s house, he picked himself up and determined to head back home, suffering whatever consequences were to be. He was free of his old life, just by the fact that he made a move toward home.

My prayer for the prodigal is freedom; that they recognize making the first steps toward freedom is the only way to start breaking off the chains. I pray they know, without a doubt, that God is for them; and having no fear, feel Him ever beside them as they walk the path toward home.
